Thoughts and Dreams - Living the Law of Perpetual Transmutation

In Hidden Treasures by Leslie Householder, she explains the Law of Perpetual Transmutation this way:

“Circumstances and things are perpetually coming or going according to your thoughts.”

It’s a powerful concept. Householder gives a beautiful analogy to help us understand how it works: just like water is always moving—rising as vapor, falling as rain, flowing in rivers, or resting in oceans—our thoughts are constantly in motion, taking different forms depending on how we engage with them.

Some thoughts drift by like mist—here one moment, gone the next. But others fall like rain into our lives when we choose to act on them. And some settle in and become like lakes or oceans: lasting influences that shape our world, bless our families, and serve others. Our thoughts have that kind of power.

So it becomes critical that we remember two things:

1. Watch your thoughts—because they become your words and your actions.
2. Dare to dream.

Let’s talk about the first one: watching your thoughts. Understanding the Law of Perpetual Transmutation means being intentional. Every thought is like the beginning of a creation. At first, it's light—like vapor—but the more we dwell on it, the more it gathers strength and starts to move. It begins to seep into our hearts, our speech, our actions. Before we know it, we’re living the reality of what we first allowed into our mind.

Whether it’s thoughts of frustration, fear, resentment, or even despair—especially about things like marriage, finances, or parenting—those thoughts begin the process of creation. What we think becomes what we speak. What we speak becomes what we live.

But here’s the joy in all of this: we can choose our thoughts. And when something negative creeps in—and it will—we can replace it immediately. A song. A scripture. A simple moment of gratitude. These have the power to chase out darkness and shift our whole experience.

I once heard someone say, “If you want to instantly be near God, just express gratitude.” That really resonated with me. It reminded me that I don’t need to wait to feel peace—I can step into it with a thankful heart.

Now the second part: Dare to dream.

Yes, you. Dare to dream! Dreams are goals in seed form. They’re the starting point of all positive creation. I have a dear friend who once told me that she no longer allowed herself to dream about things like decorating her home, going on a trip, or wishing they had more in life because it just won't happen based on their current circumstances. I told her that she needed to dream to get her out of the situation she was in.

Without a dream, you stay stuck. You stagnate. You lose the spark that inspires growth. I told her, “You need a dream to lift you out of the place you're in.” Dreaming is like calling water out of the sky—it begins to gather, and eventually it falls into your life in the form of new opportunities, new courage, new action.

I saw something similar in my own mother. After my dad passed away three years ago, she found herself slipping into discouragement. You’d never guess it—she’s a stunning woman who runs two successful businesses and supports her children and grandchildren like no one else. But she was quietly struggling.

And then I realized: she had no dream. Nothing to look forward to. She was going through the motions, but stuck in a rut. I encouraged her to start dreaming again—anything. It didn’t have to be big or even practical. Just something that made her excited about life again. Maybe she’d act on those dreams, maybe she wouldn’t. But the simple act of dreaming would reignite her spark and help her move forward again.

Dreaming is the beginning of creation. It activates the Law of Perpetual Transmutation. So keep dreaming. Let your ideas flow like water. Keep those thoughts moving and evolving. Don’t let fear or doubt shut you down. Let yourself enjoy the process. Dream with wonder. Speak with confidence. Act with joy.

Because those dreams? They become your words.
Those words? They become your actions.
And those actions? They become your life.

So stay in motion. Keep dreaming. Keep creating.

Just like water, the flow never stops.
