About Leslie
Aug 01, 2011
Hi! I’m Leslie Householder. My husband, Trevan, and I co-founded the School of Life Mastery, and I’d love to tell you more about our work.
Our journey didn’t start out easy—far from it. Stick around, and you’ll hear all about those seven long years of frustration and setbacks. But then, something shifted, and everything changed. I want to share exactly what we did because it’s something anyone can apply. It works, no matter who you are or what you do (as long as it’s ethical).
For over 20 years, I’ve been a wife, mother, author, speaker, and entrepreneur, sharing lessons on managing stress, finding meaning in setbacks, and overcoming life’s challenges.
Want a quick summary of what I teach?
Since those early struggles, I’ve become a three-time best-selling, award-winning, internationally published author of The Jackrabbit Factor, Portal to Genius, and Hidden Treasures: Heaven’s Astonishing Help with Your Money Matters. I’ve also contributed to multiple Chicken Soup for the Soul publications and created Genius Bootcamp—a 3-day workshop based on Portal to Genius—designed to help you unlock inspired solutions to life’s toughest problems.
Trevan, my tech-genius husband, had the vision to build a school based on the principles in my books. Together, we’ve reached over 50,000 students since 2002—mostly through word of mouth—and we feel like we’re just getting started.
Why We Do What We Do
I always heard that “thinking positive” was important, but it took me years to understand why—and I’m still learning.
The truth is, I need a reason to do it. (Because, honestly, cynicism is just easier.)
Positive thinking isn’t my natural default—just ask my kids. When things look bleak, I struggle to see the good. But when I push through and choose to do it anyway, the rewards have been life-changing.
Who Am I, and What Do I Believe?
We’ve discovered that every challenge, no matter how painful, carries a hidden principle—a nugget of truth waiting to be uncovered. This blog and our school exist to share those discoveries in hopes they’ll encourage you to think differently and find your own reasons to keep going.
Most of my posts are true stories—snapshots from life with my kids, our business adventures, or reflections on events that shape our work.
Some of my most powerful posts have been written in moments of struggle—when I needed to coach myself through discouragement or stress. You may not always know which ones those are, but if a post resonates deeply, there’s a good chance I was working through something big at the time.
We don’t claim to be perfect examples of success. I write to keep my own thoughts in check, and if you find something helpful along the way, then I’m grateful our challenges weren’t wasted.
I welcome your thoughts, comments, and feedback. Sometimes, a fresh perspective reveals a blind spot I didn’t know I had. So, for all comments—thank you.
