Think Think Think

The Law of Cause and Effect states that whatever you send into the Universe comes back to you. Action and reaction are equal and opposite. That’s why it’s so powerful to keep your focus on what you can give, not just what you hope to get.

It happened again.

I don’t even remember what the disagreement was about—or what started it, really. But I do remember the effect: that heavy, sinking feeling in my gut. The emotional ache. The internal storm brewing. My first thought was, “Oh no. Not again.”

I’m sure you can imagine it.

Home. Husband and wife. Disagreement. Egos flare. He walks off to one room, I retreat to another.

Classic.

I ended up in the kitchen, sat on a stool, and dropped my head onto the counter. I let myself feel the emotions—but only for a minute. Literally. Sixty seconds of tears and frustration, and then I regrouped. I’d been studying the Natural Laws of the Universe—what some call the Laws of Success—and I knew enough to stop and challenge the storm in my head.

I reminded myself:
“Thoughts create.”
Gulp.
That meant I had a role in this. Maybe even a big one. And as uncomfortable as it was, I had to admit—on some level—I may have even wanted this clash. That’s hard to accept, but also... maybe true. Either way, I was in this moment, and I knew there was something here for me to learn.

I asked myself, Am I a serious student? Do I actually believe in these laws? This was a chance to put everything I’d been learning into action.

I remembered the “thinking stuff” from Wallace Wattles:

There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, in which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the universe. A thought in this substance produces the thing that is imaged by the thought. I can form things in my thought, and by impressing my thoughts upon formless substance, can cause the thing I think about to be created.

So I thought, I NEED TO THINK.

Just like Winnie the Pooh, I tapped my temple and went, “Think. Think. Think.” And that led me to something simple, but powerful: gratitude.

I closed my eyes and said, “Thank you.” Yes—thank you for this experience. The hurt. The discomfort. The lesson. (That was a first!)

And then, I got intentional with my thoughts:

  • I wanted peace → I imagined it. I thought it.

  • I wanted to feel supported → I thought about receiving support.

  • I wanted to feel love for my husband → I remembered better times and thought about those.

  • I wanted to be happy → I pictured joy. I thought joy.

  • I wanted to learn from this → I opened my heart to the lesson.

  • I wanted healing for our relationship → I envisioned wholeness.

  • I wanted to let the disagreement go → I thought about release, and I released.

  • I wanted us to be okay → I imagined us okay.

And you know what? We were.

I allowed the experience to run its course, and then—I let it go. I didn’t replay it. I didn’t stew. I didn’t mentally argue my side over and over again. I changed what I was sending out, and because of that, what came back to me shifted.

The turmoil passed quickly, and I felt... peaceful. Empowered.

That’s the power of the Law of Cause and Effect. What you send out does return. So be intentional with your thoughts. Focus on what you can give—whether it’s grace, love, peace, understanding—and watch what begins to shift in your world."

And I would add, see how quickly you can change the results by changing your focus, your thoughts and your feelings!

Gotta love it.
