Selling Yourself on Self-Confidence

Remember that new idea that recently drifted across the canvas of your mind? Where did it go? What did you do with it?
I believe those kinds of inspired thoughts land on thousands of minds every day. But what happens next can vary drastically. Some people recognize the idea and act on it. Others recognize it but dismiss it as impractical. And then there are those who see its potential—but freeze when it comes time to take the next step.
Why does that third group get stuck?
It’s not because they lack belief in the idea. They may absolutely see how powerful or transformative it could be. But when it comes time to move forward, they stall. They say things like, “I don’t know how to do that,” or “I wouldn’t know what to do if…”—and fill in the blank with a hypothetical problem that doesn’t even exist yet.
That response often points to a lack of self-confidence.
When you truly believe that you’re capable of handling whatever obstacles arise—that you can figure things out as you go, rise to the occasion, and grow through every challenge—then there’s nothing that can hold you back. You begin to unlock the incredible power that already exists within you.
You are a divine creation. You have everything you need inside you right now to accomplish your dreams. Yes, you have flaws. No, you’re not perfect. But here’s the thing: your imperfections are part of your advantage. They keep you humble. And humility opens the door to divine help and inspired support.
You don’t have to know everything. You just need to believe, act on what you can do, and trust that the rest will show up as needed. What you don’t have right now, you don’t yet need—but when the time comes, it will be provided.
To build self-confidence, you must understand this: it is possible to create something extraordinary without being perfect yourself.
The solution to any problem (if and when it even arises) will come. The right answers, people, or opportunities will be revealed at the right time, as you move forward in faith.
In essence, you need to sell yourself on self-confidence.
Now, if the word “sell” makes you squirm a bit, take a breath. This isn’t about pressuring anyone else. You’re selling to one person: you. And the good news? Your “client” is already interested. You already want to believe in yourself. So now, your job is to reinforce that belief.
Here’s a tool I’ve been taught that really helps: it’s called a Power Phrase.
A Power Phrase is a short, strong statement you create specifically for the area where you want more confidence. It can be tied to an immediate opportunity or a long-term goal. It might be about your health, your self-image, your relationships—any part of your life where you’re ready to grow.
To create a Power Phrase:
-
Start with “I am” or “I will”—a bold, confident beginning that declares your intention.
-
Follow with a clear, positive description of the outcome you want.
-
Finish with “Thank you, thank you, thank you.” This part is crucial—it anchors your mindset in gratitude, which increases your creative power.
For example, if I wanted to grow in patience with my kids, I might say:
“I will be happily patient today with my children. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
Once you’ve crafted your Power Phrase, repeat it out loud each morning. And say it again anytime doubt creeps in—when those pesky “what ifs” or “I can’ts” try to sabotage your momentum.
With consistency, you’ll begin to notice subtle but powerful shifts in your thinking, behavior, and results. That new idea you once questioned? You’ll find yourself naturally moving toward it. Why? Because you’re rewiring your subconscious mind with a new belief system—one that supports action instead of fear.
That’s how self-confidence grows. That’s how momentum builds.
You have nothing to lose by selling yourself on self-confidence. Everything to gain. So go ahead—define your Power Phrase, repeat it with belief, and watch what happens. Most importantly, watch how you change.
You’ve got this.
