Public Speaking and The Law of Rhythm

As we move through life, we all experience highs and lows. We have good days and bad days. We celebrate wins, and we face setbacks.

This is exactly what the Law of Rhythm teaches us. It's the natural rise and fall of life. We see it in nature: the ocean has high tides and low tides, the sun rises in the morning and sets in the evening. Within ourselves, we also move through cycles—mentally, emotionally, and physically. We feel strong one day and drained the next. Inspired one week, then unsure the following.

Of all the laws, the Law of Rhythm is often best understood when seen in connection with the others:

  • When we look at the rhythm of good and bad, we’re also seeing the Law of Polarity in action—reminding us that nothing is inherently good or bad, only as we relate to it.

  • Because everything moves and changes, the Law of Perpetual Transmutation is always at work, turning our energy and thoughts into new circumstances.

  • And at the foundation of it all is the Law of Vibration, which tells us that what we focus on attracts more of the same. So when we're in a downswing, we can choose to focus on the truth that an upswing is coming—and begin aligning ourselves with it.

I know this might sound vague or even confusing at first. But learning these laws, and applying them, has helped me support others in meaningful ways. I’ve worked with public speaking students who were paralyzed by fear—people who couldn’t even imagine getting through a speech without shaking. I’ve seen them go from that low point to delivering speeches they were proud of, with little to no fear.

And I couldn’t have helped them make that shift if I hadn’t lived it myself.

I’ve had speeches that fell flat. Ones I walked away from thinking, “I wish I could just erase that from memory.” But I also proved to myself—through the Law of Rhythm—that just as surely as there are low points, there are also high points. That within me was the ability to deliver a speech that wouldn’t be forgotten—for all the right reasons.

That’s the rhythm of life. And when you understand it, you stop fearing the lows... because you know an upswing is already on its way.
