Imperfect Perfection - Why You Are Not Disappointing God

When I see a rosebud, I see potential. I love the anticipation of it blooming. It hasn’t opened yet, but it’s already beautiful—and it brings me joy.

When I see a rose that has just started to bloom, I see growth. I lean in and breathe in the fragrance it's offering the world. It’s not fully open, but it’s beautiful—and it brings me joy.

When I see a rose in full bloom, I see maturity. Its color is rich, its petals are open wide. It’s expansive. It’s beautiful—and it brings me joy.

A rose is beautiful and perfect in every stage it passes through. When it’s still a bud, I’m not disappointed that it hasn’t opened yet. And when it’s in full bloom, I don’t wish it could go back. It is exactly where it’s meant to be in its process. I love that it can be full of potential and full of progress at the same time.

The Law of Relativity helps me keep that same perspective with myself. When I start feeling like I don’t measure up—or that I don’t have the talents, skills, or advantages others have—I remember:
I am exactly where I’m supposed to be.
I can remind myself that God sees me as a rose. And He is appreciating every moment of my growth. He sees me as beautiful and perfect.

In His eyes, I am always enough because of the growth I’m engaged in. At the same time, I’m also not yet enough—because there’s still more growth ahead. Both things are true. Sometimes I feel like a rock star, accomplishing big things. Other times, I feel like a total slug, hit with a case of the “I don’t wannas,” avoiding everything productive.
To God, I’m still perfect.
Perfect in the moment I’m in.
Perfect in my process.
Even when it looks like I’m not growing at all.
He delights in the fact that I am full of potential and progress all at once.

One thing I’m learning on this path is that only God defines me. I don’t see everything that’s unfolding, not even in myself. There will always be people with more, and people with less. That’s not my business. Their path, progress, and process? That’s between them and God—because only God defines them, and He sees them as beautiful and perfect, too.

When I’m willing to stay connected to God, He lovingly and gently shows me what to do next. He reveals where I need to prune—cutting away what’s draining my energy—so that I can grow in ways that bring the most joy.

When I’m open to Him, He also shows me what’s possible. Sometimes He places someone further along the path in my view—not to discourage me, but to encourage me. To show me what’s ahead. And when I’m ready to receive it, I recognize the support and courage He’s offering to help me get there.

Christ is the perfect example of living in harmony with the Law of Relativity. He never denied His divine power, yet He continually sought the will of the Father. He grew from grace to grace as He moved through His earthly mission.

When I practice this law, I can stand without shame or feelings of inadequacy while receiving the mentorship, guidance, and support that’s offered to me. I can see and celebrate what I’ve already accomplished. I can claim my gifts, talents, and strengths without comparison—without pride. It allows me to stand in confidence, feel love for those around me, and reach back to help others on their way.
This is the pattern of Heaven.
It’s the sweet spot of humility.

So where are you in your process?

Do you ever feel like everyone else is more put together—more talented, more capable?
The truth is… some are! God puts people in your view to show you what’s possible.
And do you feel like maybe you’re further along than some others in your life?
The truth is… you are. You’ve experienced growth. You’ve learned, accepted, and started living truths that others are just starting to discover.
God will bring people into your path, and when He nudges you, reach back. Show them what you’ve just learned.
That’s the pattern of Heaven. That’s the sweet spot of humility.

So the next time you see a rose—no matter what stage it’s in—take a moment to remember:

You are the rose.
You are beautiful.
And you are perfect, exactly as you are.
