How this Law Brings Interest Into My Life

Writing and watching Goal Statements come true has been a fascinating experience for me. One of my very first short-term goal statements was for the money to take a three-week road trip—my first summer working with the Law of Attraction.
I wrote the goal for five thousand dollars because, well, I’m an optimist. I imagined the people I’d meet, the beautiful sights I’d see, the comfort and ease of hotels and restaurant meals. I pictured myself as a genteel lady, traveling the open road in my van with my dog. I’d stop at historical sites, visit parks, and arrive at lovely hotels where strong, handsome young men would carry my bags—plus the dog food bowl, the water dish, the computer suitcase, and whatever else I had with me. I would be pampered and spoiled. Friends would come visit me in my beautiful hotel rooms, where we’d order room service treats and chat by the pool, maybe even take a swim. Pure luxury! Jan, the Successful Businesswoman! I’d show them the Law of Attraction in full effect!
In reality, when I left home, I only had enough money for a single tank of gas. But I filled the tank and hit the road anyway. And the trip evolved. Instead of hotels and restaurants, I stayed in the homes of dear friends. We shared meals together, and I bought fresh fruits and vegetables from grocery stores along the way. A kind friend, who knew how much this trip meant to me, deposited money into my account as I traveled. He was also checking my mail for checks—both expected and unexpected—and depositing them as they arrived.
Along the way, I learned something even more valuable: even though the financial Goal Statement didn’t manifest exactly as I had written it, I had an absolutely beautiful time. Had I stayed in hotels and ordered restaurant meals, I would have missed the joy of visiting with friends, petting their dogs and cats, playing with their neighbors’ children... I even met a boa constrictor named Scarlett!
My diet, surprisingly, was far healthier thanks to those grocery store produce sections than it would’ve been had I been tempted by fried food and decadent desserts. And with my ongoing health concerns, it was as if my “Goal Statement Angel” made sure I was cared for, well-fed, protected, and surrounded by good company. The trip couldn’t have been more perfect, and I wouldn’t trade it for all the maid service or fancy meals in the world.
Goal Statements do come true. Your dreams will come true. I share this story to remind you: even if your short-term goal doesn’t unfold exactly the way you wrote it, don’t worry—it might end up even better.
I haven’t had time yet to see a long-term Goal Statement come fully to life—after all, I’ve only been in the program for less than a year. But that very first short-term goal, originally just an assignment from the Family Time and Money Freedom course, has begun to expand. It’s turning into my Life Goal Statement. Kind of like answering the question, “Where do you see yourself in five years?”—only sooner, since I wrote a date much closer than five years at the top of it.
It began simply—with my “dream farm,” my “dream house.” Then came the “dream barn” for my horse. Nearly every day, the picture becomes more vivid, and I make little tweaks. Eventually, I moved it onto my computer so I could update it without rewriting the whole thing by hand each time. I finally understood where the phrase “cut and paste” comes from—though in my case, it was more like scissors and tape!
Now, the dream includes greenhouses, solar panels, a windmill—a fully self-sustaining operation that provides jobs for several people.
I know it will come true, because it’s in my dreams. And it’s so vivid that sometimes, when I wake up and look outside at my current house and yard, I feel surprised that it still looks the way it does.
