The Law of Cause and Effect teaches that every cause produces an effect, and every effect can be traced back to a cause. Nothing happens by chance. When you do good, this law ensures that good will return to you. And when harm is done, justice will follow—whether in this life or the next. Every action creates an equal and opposite reaction.
The universe responds to the energy and emotion you pour into your goals, your thoughts, and your actions. What you send out comes back to you in equal measure. Positive, uplifting thoughts lead to positive, uplifting outcomes. When you align yourself with that vibration, you naturally begin to attract the resources and support you need.
It’s absolutely essential to understand how powerful your thoughts really are. What you think, believe, and act on in faith has the power to shape your reality. When you live in obedience to this law, the right opportunities, people, and circumstances will be drawn to you—exactly when you need them—to help you achieve your goals.
When my grandfather, Nathan Tanner Porter, crossed the plains to the Salt Lake Valley for the second time, he traveled with and assisted the Martin Handcart Company. Their journey was filled with hardship and difficulty. But in the face of uncertainty, he said:
"When we have utilized all our provisions, God will provide more."
That kind of faith—that level of trust—calls on the powers of the universe and draws exactly what you need into your life. And God did provide what my grandfather needed, at just the right time. His faith deepened as he faced those trials with gratitude, not despair.
He understood something profound: there is no limit to the abundance available to us. As we seek prosperity in order to bless others, sustain our families, and grow spiritually, God can and will provide—even if He must create something entirely new to meet our needs.
The laws of the universe are God’s laws. And when we live in harmony with them, we naturally attract good into our lives. When we seek wealth for righteous purposes, our thoughts become powerful tools. As we raise our vibration through faith and intention, we become magnets for divine support.
By understanding your ability to co-create prosperity through these laws, you can draw in the good and multiply it to bless others. This law works hand-in-hand with the other six laws of prosperity—helping you receive what you truly need, while learning from the outcomes of your choices.
God has given you the freedom to act—not to be acted upon.
The power and the choice are yours to enjoy.
