Goal Achievement as Easy as Breathing
Mar 27, 2017
A lot of people get really excited about making life changes, so they throw themselves into building new habits with discipline and grit.
That’s not a bad thing—but let’s be honest, it’s HARD.
But what if there’s a better way?
Your mind already does so much for you automatically—without you having to think about it. And believe it or not, that can include achieving your goals.
Think about it:
How much discipline does it take to keep your heart beating? How hard is it to remember to breathe?
Exactly. You don’t even have to try. These things are managed effortlessly by your subconscious mind. So, give yourself a little credit—you're doing a fantastic job staying alive, thanks to this built-in system! It’s a gift from God, designed to handle the stuff we might not be smart enough—or capable enough—to manage consciously.
Well, I, for one, know I’m not smart enough to reach every goal through willpower alone. That’s why I have to tap into this God-given gift to help me go beyond what I can do on my own.
Imagine someone saying, “Wow, you are SO good at keeping your heart beating. You are amazing! You’re such an inspiration with the way you breathe. If I could just breathe HALF as well as you, I’d be thrilled!”
It sounds ridiculous, right? But this is basically how we treat people who seem to effortlessly reach their goals. The truth is, those high achievers aren’t always more talented or more disciplined. They’ve just figured out how to work with their subconscious mind to bring their goals to life.
So… what if achieving your goals could feel just as natural as breathing?
Are you ready for a fresh start? Could you use a shift?
When you set a goal and turn it over to your subconscious mind, you activate extra internal faculties like intuition, inspiration, and instinct. That transfer—turning it over—happens through repetition and/or emotion. In simpler terms, it’s like praying with a clear vision of what you're asking for and a deep sense of gratitude and expectancy, as though it’s already done.
The problem is, we often pray for what we want while envisioning what we don’t want—and feeling anxious about the possibility of failure. But real change happens when all three parts agree:
-
What we ask for
-
What we picture in our mind
-
How we feel about it
When those three align? That’s when things really start to shift.
Seriously—try it with something small today.
Here’s the thing: everyone is already using their subconscious mind to shape their future… they just don’t realize it. I’d bet that most people haven’t noticed how their past thoughts and emotions have led to the results they’re living in right now. But once you start tracing those patterns, you uncover a powerful truth: your mind is creating more than you think it is.
So, if your subconscious mind is already helping you create what you’ve repeatedly imagined or felt—what’s it working on right now?
Are your results predictable? Quite possibly.
To get a clue, ask yourself:
-
What do I think about most often?
-
Which thoughts trigger my most common emotions?
-
Do I spend more time worrying and fearing… or hoping and joyfully planning?
That’s the first step: pay attention to your thoughts.
And remember, when you set your goals and allow your subconscious mind to do the heavy lifting, progress can start to feel as natural as breathing.
You are the captain of your soul.
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud,
Under the bludgeoning of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
