Finding Peace in the midst of Chaos part 1

What does the word “peace” mean to you?
Maybe it brings to mind beaches with waves crashing softly on the shore. Or the quiet flicker of a campfire beneath a vast, starry sky. Maybe it's a cozy chair, a good book, and a warm cup of cocoa. Those are all peaceful places—but what about creating a peaceful state of being that’s available no matter where you are?

I’m talking about inner peace.

It’s normal for peace in life to come and go. But did you know there’s a natural law that explains why? According to the Law of Perpetual Transmutation, everything—our thoughts, circumstances, and even the objects around us—is either forming into reality or fading out of it. I’ve also heard it said this way: “Circumstances and things are always either coming to us or moving away—according to our thoughts.”

It might sound unfamiliar, but if it can bring you more peace? I’d say it’s worth exploring.

More and more, our society is waking up to the power of thought. You’ve probably heard phrases like “manifesting the life you want” or “visualizing your dreams.” But what does that really mean?

According to the Law of Perpetual Transmutation, it means this:
What you think about, you bring about.

If your current life feels like a whirlwind of stress and chaos, you essentially have two options. Let’s break them down:

Option One:

You dwell on everything going wrong. You begin to imagine how much worse it could get. You replay worst-case scenarios in your head, and your mind paints a vivid picture of what failure or misery might look like. Before long, your emotions follow—frustration, anxiety, hopelessness.

In this state, you’ve just planted an “idea seed.”

As Leslie Householder explains in Hidden Treasures: Heaven’s Astonishing Help With Your Money Matters:

“This situation may be compared to the changing forms of water. The situation has not manifested itself in the physical world yet (just as vapor is not yet rain), but for a moment, the circumstances required to make that situation a reality were actually beginning to gather, as a cloud gathers in the sky.”

If you keep feeding that cloud of thought with attention and emotion, the storm eventually comes.

Option Two:

You interrupt the spiral.

Instead of sinking deeper into dread, you intentionally shift your focus to something calming and hopeful. This is where a default vision comes in. It’s like a mental vision board—not of stuff, but of peaceful outcomes you’d love to see unfold.

To create a default vision, pause and take a deep breath.
Think of one thing you’re truly grateful for right now:
A loved one, a safe home, a reliable car, food in your kitchen.

Let that feeling of gratitude settle in your chest for a moment.

Now, think of something simple that you’d like to experience:
Lunch with a friend. Finding something you misplaced. Taking a small trip somewhere new.

Let your mind play with that idea. Add texture and emotion. Imagine how it feels when it comes true. When you feel peace—you’ll know you’ve landed on your default vision.

Hold it. Feel grateful for it—as if it’s already real.
And if you want to give it even more power? Write it down.

When you consistently feel gratitude for your vision—without letting doubt creep in—you set that idea into motion. That’s the Law of Perpetual Transmutation at work.

So, the next time chaos sets in…

Pause.
Take a breath.
Turn your focus toward your default vision.
Feel the peace of it, and let that peace wash over you.

The choice is always yours. You can focus on fear, or you can focus on hope. You can feed doubt, or you can nurture peace. And whatever you choose to dwell on is what you’ll bring closer into your life.

We all face struggles that challenge our peace. But having a default vision gives us something solid to hold on to—a simple, powerful tool to ground us in the storm and help us build the life we want.
