Be-Do-Have | The Most Important Process You Can Learn – Part I

I’ve mentioned before that we can create the results we want—faster and without the usual frustration—by flowing with the universe. This flow follows the Be-Do-Have process: Be the happy person or the friendly person you want to be, and then you’ll have that happiness and friendship.

Of course, this is often easier said than done. Every one of us carries limiting beliefs, habits, and patterns of self-talk. These are like heavy bricks weighing us down and blocking us from reaching our goals. To move forward, we need a tool that can help us lift that weight and clear the path to the life we want. One such tool is the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).

The Emotional Freedom Technique is a simple but powerful method of tapping on the body’s meridian points to release stuck energy—the limiting patterns that keep you trapped and frustrated. When you use EFT to clear a “brick” (a problem), you quickly release the disruptive energy that’s been causing the symptom (the issue you’ve been fighting against).

As you use EFT to support your "being"—whether that's being rich, happy, married, employed, or an entrepreneur—it’s helpful to tap not only on the bricks you want to remove, but also on the positive traits you're striving to embody.

Here’s an example of how someone might apply the steps from the first two articles:

Let's say you want to be married.

First, you start with the setup phrase. Tap on the side of your hand (the "karate chop" point) while saying:

"Even though I am not married, I deeply and completely love and accept myself."

Next, make a list of the negatives that come to mind when you think about getting and being married. Look closely at the fears and limiting beliefs on your list—these are the bricks you’ll work on clearing.

Suppose one of the negatives on your list is fear of rejection—you feel you can’t and won’t risk putting yourself out there only to be rejected. Think about that fear and rate its intensity on a scale from 0 to 10. Take note of your number.

Now, begin tapping through the following points while repeating the word "rejection" aloud:

  • Eyebrow

  • Side of Eye

  • Under Eye

  • Under Nose

  • Chin

  • Collar Bone

  • Under Arm

  • Top of Head

Go through this tapping sequence three times. Afterward, check your intensity level again. Has it dropped to 0 or 1? If not, repeat the tapping process until the feeling is completely cleared from your being.

Once the negative emotion is released, shift your focus to a positive "being" trait. In this case, it might be "acceptance"—being accepted by others. Now, tap through the same points again, but this time repeat the key word "acceptance."

By clearing the negative and replacing it with a positive "being," you set yourself up to naturally be whomever you want to be—without the frustration of forcing yourself through sheer willpower.

It really is that simple!
