Acquiring Business Skills For Our Small Business

One of the greatest obstacles to success is acquiring the business skills necessary to thrive. We might have a big dream, an excellent product, or a beautiful website, but without the right approach to bringing all of that to the public in a way that resonates with our target audience, success will remain out of reach.
I’ve wrestled with this challenge myself, and I’ve come to one solid conclusion: We need professional help. Sure, we can fumble around, experimenting with different methods, failing and learning through all the trial and error, just like Thomas Edison did with his 999 failed attempts. But the question is, can we afford that? Personally, I can't. So, from the bottom of my heart, I say to you: Invest in yourself! Seek out a business mentor—one with a money-back guarantee if possible. Ask people you trust who their business mentors are, or if they can recommend a few. You don't have to wander aimlessly. These mentors likely offer free sample videos and audios so you can get a feel for whether you’re a good fit before making any decisions.
Check them all out thoroughly before committing. Don’t let anyone rush you with those "this is your only chance" messages. Copy and paste the URL into a document or bookmark it so you can come back to it later. Don’t let someone pressure you into buying their program before you’re absolutely sure it’s the right one for you. I kept a document with a list of sites, copied the URLs, and re-examined them as many times as I needed. I even took notes, tracked the discounts they offered, and calculated how much I could save if I "clicked off." It’s your money, so make sure you spend it wisely.
But don’t shortchange yourself. If you do, it will cost you more in the long run. Make sure the program you invest in covers everything you need to learn. For instance, how to create a landing page, set it up so it collects names and emails, and if your product is digital, why not make it easy for your customers to pay and download it? Think of it as a set it and forget it system—your customers will have instant access, and you'll still have that important mailing list.
You might also want to connect your mailing list to an autoresponder, so you can send out freebie content like a short course, which will eventually lead your customers to other products you have for sale. Be sure that the program includes instructions on how to do this.
Having all of this running on autopilot will save you time, allowing you to focus on creating more valuable content for your audience. Imagine the time it would take to write and send out newsletters every week, keeping track of who's new and who’s on Chapter Five, and juggling the demands of hosting teleconferences, webinars, or live seminars. You’ll never get everything done!
Make your business enjoyable, but always remember that it’s your business. Invest in it, and it will take you as far as your dreams can reach.
