From Vision Board to Reality

mastery student spotlight Sep 21, 2024

Meet Sonia W. Carroll, Mindset Mastery Graduate

Sonia’s journey through the Mindset Mastery course shows how small actions, faith, and perseverance can turn a dream into reality, even when timing and circumstances feel challenging.

Phase 1: The “Inconsequential Goals”

Sonia started with simple, everyday intentions that proved the power of focus:

“I decided to get a close parking space in the parking lot. I usually park far away, but I found a close spot on my first try! That’s all it took? I will imagine it in my mind more often.”

She also experienced a fun miracle while cooking:

“I wanted to find the peri peri seasoning I had used for my turkey. I put it in a safe place, couldn’t find it, and a few days later, there it was! I was so excited!”

These small wins reinforced the idea that even “inconsequential goals” can spark confidence and joy.

Phase 2: A Bigger Stretch

Sonia’s meaningful goal was ambitious:

“My goal was to take a trip to Jerusalem.”

Her bite-sized step was to add it to her vision board. Although her husband suggested waiting until the kids were grown, Sonia chose to leave it as her goal, trusting her vision and faith. Visiting a 3D model of Jerusalem at a temple visitors center strengthened her belief that this dream was possible.

Facing Fear and Breaking Through

Sonia hit a true terror barrier when her father unexpectedly invited her to join a trip to Jerusalem immediately. The timing conflicted with other goals, including finishing school.

“At first, I was frustrated at God for the timing. Then I realized He has a sense of humor. I accepted it, showed gratitude, and got excited. Getting ready in such a short time was not easy, but I didn’t have to plan it myself.”

She also had to drop her class mid-semester, a tough decision, but it opened the door to a life-changing experience.

Breaking Through the Terror Barrier

Sonia was amazed when her dream materialized.

“Truthfully, I was shocked when my goal came about. Later I learned that my mom, who had passed away, helped line this up for me. She was my angel mother helping me achieve my dreams.”

She and her father traveled to Jordan, Jerusalem, and Egypt with Fun Tours For Less, guided by Michael Wilcox. The experience was spiritually rich, joyful, and unforgettable.

Sonia’s Advice for Others Facing Fear

“Take small action steps toward your goal. I received step one, then step two, then step three…until I reached the last step. You don’t need to see the entire path at once, just trust the process and take the next step.”

Sonia’s story is a beautiful reminder that faith, gratitude, and taking small, deliberate steps can turn a dream into reality, even when the timing seems impossible.
