Why Motivation Doesn’t Last
Apr 11, 2017
If you’re anything like me, you’ve felt that rush of empowerment when you learn something new—about the way you think, or how the Universe really works. That spark can come from an article, a book, a workshop, a conversation with a mentor or leader, or even a powerful movie.
But have you ever felt frustrated because that motivation just doesn’t stick around?
Many people end up discrediting self-help or personal development entirely for this very reason. It lifts them up for a few days, and then life goes back to “normal,” or sometimes worse. So when the next opportunity to grow comes along, they feel jaded or discouraged and choose to sit it out—because, hey, the motivation never lasts anyway.
It’s like going on a personal-development DIET. But here’s why that approach might be more harmful than you realize…
I know—I felt that way for at least seven years. Until one day, a breakthrough hit me so deeply that it changed me PERMANENTLY. So I can say, from firsthand experience, that lasting change IS possible.
Sure, the same book, event, or experience won’t affect everyone the same way. But how will you ever know if the next one might be THE ONE that finally transforms your life—if you quit looking?
When the student is truly ready, the answers show up.
Until then, keep gathering bits of wisdom—they’re preparing you for the solution that will make all the difference.

And if you’re discouraged by motivation that fades, try this perspective:
Your LUNCH didn’t last either.
(And neither did your shower.) But you don’t stop eating just because a meal doesn’t last forever.
Each meal fuels you until the next one. Feeding your mind and spirit works the same way. When they start feeling weak, it’s time to feed them again!
So, have you been on a mind-diet lately? And if so, what are you hoping to “lose”?
Go ahead—indulge your mind! It won’t add inches to your waist or pounds to your hips, so feast away! :) Trust that eventually, you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for. That’s actually a Biblical promise (Matthew 7:7).
I can’t wait to help you experience your next big breakthrough!
Warmly,
Leslie
