Volunteers Wanted

newsletter archives relationships Jan 11, 2018

We are looking for volunteers who can work from home and help us make our content available to more people. Will you be one of them?

As you may know, I’ve been teaching the principles of Rare Faith since 2000 (though we didn’t always call them that—this term was adopted a few years ago for this reason). My goal has always been to provide a wealth of information for free, while keeping more advanced trainings affordable. Tens of thousands of hours have gone into this project, and there’s still plenty more to do.

To keep costs down and make our resources accessible, we sometimes rally volunteers who believe in the cause to help us finish projects from the comfort of their own home.

Right now, we’re focused on providing accurate transcripts for each of our podcasts, so the content is searchable and easy to cross-reference with other podcasts and articles.

We also need help creating accurate transcripts of Genius Bootcamp.

We already have auto-generated versions, but they’re far from perfect. That’s where people like you come in: listen carefully to the audio, check the transcript for errors, and make the needed corrections. Once complete, podcast transcriptions will be added to each episode here on my blog, and Genius Bootcamp transcriptions will help train facilitators now and in the future.

As I explain in Portal to Genius, building mental capital and relationship capital can yield great benefits. Helping make these audios searchable contributes to both—and I’d love to have you on board.

Corrections may include:

  • Adding missing words or phrases

  • Correcting capitalization and punctuation

  • Removing unnecessary line breaks (we have a tool for this)

  • Adding the speaker’s name before each line when multiple people are speaking

  • Fixing misheard words or phrases from the auto-generated version

It’s estimated that every 5 minutes of audio can take 10–40 minutes (or more) to edit properly.

If you join the team, you’ll choose an audio topic that interests you, edit it, and return it via email within two weeks. If you need more time, that’s fine—just let me know. We just don’t want any files tied up indefinitely.

If you’re interested, please click here and tell me why you want to participate. Once approved, you’ll receive project instructions and make your first audio selection.

Thank you so much for helping us share this work with the world!

Leslie
