Vehicles and Gratitude

What does trading a big screen TV for an old beat-up white van have to do with the Law of Vibration?
Let me explain.
There’s a Universal Law of Nature known as the Law of Vibration, which states:
"Your thoughts control your personal vibration. Change your thoughts, get emotional about them, and you'll change what is attracted to you." (1)
We naturally come into harmony with whatever we surround ourselves with—because what we surround ourselves with is often a direct reflection of what we’ve been thinking about. And yes, that even includes vehicles.
You can learn a lot about a person just by looking at what they drive. From sleek luxury sports cars to rugged work trucks to rusty minivans—every vehicle tells a story. That story is vibration made visible.
Think about it: Sam Walton, the founder of Walmart, was known for driving an old pickup truck. That was a choice—an energetic signal. On the other hand, there’s the neighbor with the brand-new shiny sports car, parked just so. Another signal. Both are expressions of internal values, emotions, and identity.
Our most memorable vehicle came during one of our financial low points. As a family of eight (six kids!), we sold our 12-passenger van just to pay it off. We were done with car payments—forever. No matter what.
So what did we do? We piled all eight of us into my husband’s 6-passenger truck… for months. Picture it: two-year-old twins in bulky car seats, older kids squished in like clowns in a circus car. It wasn’t pretty, but it’s hilarious in hindsight—and that memory gets funnier every year!
Soon, we set a new goal:
-
The vehicle had to fit all of us (plus groceries… and maybe a partridge in a pear tree).
-
It had to run.
-
And here’s the kicker: it had to be traded for a large screen TV.
Yes. You read that right.
We had a brand-new TV sitting unopened in our garage from my husband’s old business. We figured, why not make it useful?
And would you believe it? Someone actually posted on Craigslist, looking to trade their 15-passenger van for a large screen TV. We could hardly believe it ourselves.
The van needed some cleaning and a few seat covers before I was truly “in tune” with it, but it was ours. No payments. Just a little love. It aligned perfectly with the vibration we were committed to:
“We own our vehicles—no matter what.”
Here’s the thing: each of us is vibrating at a different frequency. That’s why we don’t all drive the same car, wear the same clothes, or live in the same house. We attract what matches our current vibration—nothing more, nothing less.
So how do you change your vibration?
Simple: start with gratitude.
Yes—even for the cramped truck. Even for the “beast” of a van with stained seats and mystery crumbs. Complaining about your situation only strengthens your focus on what you don’t want, and the Law of Vibration responds accordingly. The stronger your emotional energy—whether negative or positive—the stronger the magnet becomes.
But when you're grateful for what you have—even when it feels imperfect—you raise your vibration. Gratitude opens your mind, shifts your energy, and helps you imagine something better. And when you allow yourself to dream—to really feel what it would be like to have what you want—you begin to attract it by law.
So yes, even a big screen TV and a beat-up white van can teach us something powerful about the Law of Vibration:
Be grateful. Dream boldly. Feel it deeply.
And trust that what you’re aligned with will find its way to you.
