Understanding the Law of Vibration

"I'll believe it when I see it."

Ever heard that phrase? Or maybe, "Seeing is believing"?

Our eyes are incredibly useful for gathering information, but the truth is—some of the most powerful forces in our lives are things we can’t see.

Like what, you ask?

Like vibrations.

Vibration simply means movement. Sometimes we can see something vibrate—like the string of a guitar or violin while it's being played. If you watch closely, it gets blurry as it moves rapidly back and forth. But that visible motion is just the beginning.

That vibrating string makes the air around it vibrate (which you can’t see), which makes your eardrum vibrate (also invisible), and your brain turns all that movement into sound. So while you can’t see it happening, vibration is the entire reason you can hear.

Now, have you ever heard of a theremin?

It’s one of the only musical instruments you play without touching. Like all instruments, it works by manipulating vibration—but with a theremin, you simply move your hands near it, and the invisible field reacts, changing the sound.

An Untouched Instrument: The Theramin Explained

So… what does any of this have to do with your thoughts?

A lot more than you might think.

Everything vibrates. Everything.
We know that all matter—everything you can touch—is made of atoms. These atoms are constantly moving, which means you are constantly vibrating, even when you’re perfectly still.

But it’s not just physical things.
Intangible things—like sound, emotions, and thoughts—also vibrate.

Amazing Resonance Experiment!

For example, have you ever sensed someone was sad or angry before they even said a word? That’s because their emotions have a vibrational frequency—and you feel it, even if you can’t see it.

We even reflect this concept in everyday language:

“I feel down.”
“I’m under a lot of pressure.”
“A weight has been lifted.”
“Things are looking up.”

These are expressions of vibration.

Feelings like love, gratitude, and joy are high vibrations.
Feelings like fear, shame, and hate are low vibrations.

And just like magnets, things of like vibration are drawn together.
But flip that magnet around, and it repels what it once attracted.

It’s the same with energy.
High vibrations attract high-vibration experiences.
Low vibrations pull in more of the same.

So what does that mean for your life?

It means that if your experience feels heavy, dark, or discouraging, you have the power to shift your vibration—starting with your thoughts.

Even when you can’t control the circumstances, you can control what’s happening inside you.

Scripture Story: Alma and the Law of Vibration

In the Book of Mormon, Alma led a group of righteous people who had fled from the wicked King Noah. They found safety in a new land and lived in peace—until their enemies found them again.

Soon, they were in bondage. But instead of reacting with fear and despair, Alma encouraged them to trust in God. So they did.  As their afflictions grew, they cried mightily to God.

When the enemy passed a law forbidding prayer (with death as the punishment), they didn’t panic. They simply "poured out their hearts" silently—and God knew the thoughts of their hearts (Mosiah 24:12).

And what happened next?

"...the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord.” (Mosiah 24:15, emphasis added)

Those words—cheerfully and with patience—are important. Those are high-vibration feelings. And the Law of Vibration was in motion.

Because of their faith and their emotional alignment, a miracle came:

"Be of good comfort, for on the morrow I will deliver you out of bondage." (Mosiah 24:16)

The next morning, the Lord caused their enemies to fall into a deep sleep—and Alma’s people escaped into the wilderness with everything they needed.

If your thoughts really do affect your vibration, and your vibration affects what you attract, then there’s just one big question:

How do you raise your vibration?

Here are a few simple ways to get started:

  • Change what you're feeding your mind.
Watch uplifting shows. Listen to inspiring podcasts. Read truth-filled, soul-expanding books.

  • Clean your space.
Order in your environment brings clarity to your thoughts.

  • Dress up a little.
What you wear affects how you feel—and your energy.

  • Get outside.
Nature has a naturally high vibration. Go on a walk, soak up the sun, breathe deeply.

  • Meditate.
Stillness tunes you into higher frequencies.

  • Worship and pray.
Aligning with the divine lifts your spirit and brings peace.

  • Choose your music intentionally.
Music vibrates. It literally changes the frequency of your surroundings and your body.

  • Let go of fear. Embrace faith.

Remember, even if you don’t see the change right away, it’s happening.
You don’t have to see it to believe it.
In truth… believing it is what helps you see it.
