Thoughts on the Nature of God

I don’t claim to be a great theologian. What I do claim is this: I have felt the love of God in my life. And I know it’s available to everyone—regardless of race, religion, or creed. So with that in mind, I want to share a few thoughts on what I’ve come to understand about the nature of God.
God is love.
Every single one of His glorious works flows from one thing: love. He loves because that’s who He is. It’s His nature. It’s what He chooses.
For years, I believed I had to be worthy of His love. I thought I had to earn it. And while I do believe that certain blessings are tied to obedience, His love is not one of them. He loves freely—even (and maybe especially) the unworthy. His greatest desire is for us to find lasting joy and to reach our full divine potential. And because He loves us, that’s possible.
God is good.
Look around you. Look at the majesty of creation. Every tree, every flower, every sunrise, every act of kindness—it’s all evidence of His goodness and love. Each one a quiet testimony that He is… and that He sees you.
God is the author of all truth.
Sometimes, we get caught up in the differences—debating doctrine, calling out what’s “wrong” in other faiths. And yes, there are times when truth is twisted, when teachings of men are mixed with scripture in ways that can mislead.
But I’ve also seen beautiful truths taught by sincere seekers in many different religions. God has given us the capacity to discern truth from error—if we’re willing to ask. And when I’ve studied perspectives outside my own faith tradition, I’ve found that doing so didn’t pull me away from truth—it deepened my understanding of it.
I’d study something new, then hold it up against what I already knew from God’s word. I’d pray for clarity. And when I needed confirmation, He whispered it to my spirit—showing me what was true and what wasn’t. Gently. Clearly.
God is no respecter of persons.
We are all His children. He loves everyone. Even the people we struggle to love. Even the ones we judge or avoid. His love is deeper, wider, and more complete than we can comprehend. And if we’ll open our hearts, He will help us feel that love—for Him, and for others.
There is divinity within each of us.
Just as we carry traits from our earthly parents, we also carry something divine from our Heavenly Parent. A spark. A seed. A piece of Him.
And the experiences we go through in this life? They’re meant to help us recognize and nurture that seed. As we do, we come to know our true selves—not the version we present to the world, but the real, eternal version. The more we align with that, the more meaningful life becomes. And the more able we are to serve, bless, and lift others.
Our human nature separates us from God.
But that separation isn’t permanent. In fact, overcoming it is the whole reason we’re here. It’s entirely possible to have a real, personal relationship with God—one as real as any relationship with a friend or loved one.
That kind of connection doesn’t just happen. It grows over time as we seek Him—through prayer, through gratitude, through study, through choosing Him in the small, quiet moments. As we do, the noise of the world quiets. The distractions lose their grip. And we begin to feel His power, His presence, and His guidance in our daily lives.
God knows you by name.
He knows everything about you—your strengths, your weaknesses, your pain, your purpose. And though it may feel like He’s far away sometimes, He is never out of reach. But He does wait on us. He waits for us to want a relationship with Him. He waits for us to seek Him. He waits for our hearts to be humble and ready to follow.
When we get there—when we partner with Him—He walks with us through this journey. And suddenly, what once felt impossible begins to shift.
"For with God nothing shall be impossible." —Luke 1:37
You are not here by chance. You are not just a cosmic accident or some kind of divine experiment. You are His. You are loved. You have a purpose. A destiny. A future.
And you have a Heavenly Father who is deeply invested in your growth, your joy, and your eternal success.
As we begin to better understand who He is, we start to experience more joy, more peace, and more love in every part of life. And the more of those we feel, the more beautiful and rich this life becomes.
