Thoughts Do Come True

I’ve heard it a thousand times over the years: "Watch your thoughts." "Be in control of your thinking." "What you think about comes about." "What you focus on grows."

Seminar after seminar, speaker after speaker, always hammering the same message—“stay positive,” “think good thoughts,” “manage your mindset.”

Honestly? It always sounded like a whole lot of blah, blah, blah.

I just didn’t get it. I couldn’t see how my thoughts had anything to do with what was or wasn’t happening in my life—until I was introduced to The Jackrabbit Factor by Leslie Householder.

That book flipped a switch in my brain. I started diving deeper into Leslie’s work, and as I went through her Mindset Mastery course, it finally started clicking.

Managing my thoughts and emotions wasn’t just “feel-good fluff.” It was the missing link.

As part of the course, we were given an assignment—an experiment—and that’s when the AHA moments started rolling in.

Here’s what happened:

I was studying one day when my doorbell rang. I opened it to find my neighbor’s husband, looking frantic.

He blurted out, “Do you want our fridge/freezer? It’s only six months old.”

Wait… WHAT?!

They were moving, and all their household items had already been packed and shipped. But the housing development told them they had to pay for a brand new fridge because their kids had dropped something, leaving a tiny ding in the bottom right before the move-out inspection.

So instead of letting housing keep it after being forced to pay for it, he offered it to us.

And here’s the crazy part:

Just a couple days earlier, I’d had a passing thought—“It would be so nice to have an extra fridge. I’d finally have the space to prep meals and store food for the week.” That was it. Just a thought. No obsessing. No stress. No obsessing over how or when it could happen.

And here it was, sitting on my doorstep. I am still in shock over it.

I had two big AHA moments from that experience:

1. When I usually want something, I do what most people probably do:
I stew over how it’ll happen.
I doubt whether I deserve it.
I talk myself out of it altogether.

But this time? I didn’t do any of that. I had a thought, a calm, happy feeling about it, a clear reason why it would help, and then I just moved on with my day.

No tension. No conflict. Just clarity and peace.

2. That clarity—the why—really mattered. I wasn’t just thinking, “Wouldn’t it be cool to have a fridge?” I had a purpose for it, and it helped me visualize it and feel what it would be like to have it.

I’m starting to see that when I’m clear about what I want, it’s so much easier to feel good about it, to see it in my mind, and to let the “how” take care of itself.

This wasn’t just about a fridge. This was a lesson in how creation actually works.

Your thoughts matter. Your emotions matter. And if you can connect the two with clarity and purpose—without all the panic and doubt—you might be surprised at what shows up.
