This sums up America, 2015
Oct 05, 2015
I know a lot of people have probably tuned out the news lately—tired of the political drama (or circus) playing out across the country. You’ve likely heard bits and pieces, but keeping up can feel exhausting, even discouraging. And let’s be honest: who really has the time or energy to stay invested in something that often feels completely out of our control?
That said—if you want to be a witness to something that will go down in history as one of the most significant events of all time, then yes, turn off the news if you must… but at least take in the summary.
Now, I’m not sharing this video because I’ve decided my vote is going to Ted Cruz. Honestly, I’m still sorting through all the options, and I’m not sure yet who will get my support at the polls.
(Aside from Ted, I’ve been increasingly impressed with Carly, I hold a lot of respect for Ben, Marco, and a few others… and yes, even some of Trump’s tirades strike a chord. Regardless of where my vote lands, I genuinely respect Ted for the way he distills everything in his 59-minute overview.)
Yes, this is a conservative perspective—and I get that not everyone will take the time, especially if you lean left. But honestly, liberals are making history too, and Ted even calls that out.
(On that note, I hope my liberal friends don’t automatically tune this out—because Ted actually compliments the liberals in Washington for standing their ground and staying true to their beliefs. He challenges conservatives to do the same, and I think that’s worth hearing.)
And sure, 59 minutes might feel long—but it’s a fast track through years of headlines, backstories, policy shifts, and power plays. It’s a snapshot of history-in-the-making, and in my opinion, it’s worth every minute.
This is America, 2015.
This is how I believe our country—and our generation—will be remembered in the book of life:
