The Language of Faith

Learning to apply the principles of Rare Faith to create a better life is like learning a new language.

At first, you're bound to make some mistakes. And that's perfectly normal. I've experienced it too. There have been times when I thought I was clearly communicating my desires through my goal statements, but instead, I ended up with outcomes I never intended.

And you know what? That’s okay! It’s all part of the learning process. Let me help you put it into perspective:

Picture this: You’re traveling to a Spanish-speaking country with nothing more than a basic understanding of the language and a translation book (by "basic," I mean knowing words like “burrito,” “enchilada,” “hola,” “uno, dos, tres,” and “Taco Bell.” You get the idea).

So you hop into a taxi, open your translation book, and decide to tell the driver, "I want to go somewhere quiet and beautiful where I can feel the Spirit of God." Word by word, you search the book and confidently say, "Deseo ir en alguna parte tranquilidad y hermoso donde puedo sentir el alcohol del dios."

You think you’ve said exactly what you meant.

What you didn’t know was that the driver, a native speaker, hears, "Desire to go beautiful tranquility somewhere and where I can feel the alcohol of the God."

Now, where do you think he’s going to take you?

When you end up at a bar instead of a peaceful garden or church, you might look at your translation book and throw it away, thinking, "This language doesn’t work!"

(Pause and think about that for a moment…)

Have you ever met someone who discovered the language of prosperity, tried to use it, and then abandoned it because it didn’t seem to “work”?

Maybe you’ve even thought about giving up yourself.

Here's the truth: The language of faith and prosperity is just that—a language of the Spirit. It takes time to master. It takes practice to understand the cause and effect of thinking, feeling, and acting in this new, intentional way.

When things don’t go as expected, accept the results and learn from them. Every challenge offers a lesson that brings you closer to your goal, helping you be more precise next time.

Don’t throw away the principles you know deep down are true just because the results weren’t what you thought they would be. If you end up at a bar instead of a botanical garden, it’s not because the "language" failed—it’s because you missed one key word, confusing “Holy Spirit” with “spirits” (alcohol).

The words we choose when setting goals make a huge difference in the final outcome.

For example, for a long time, my goal statement was, "Money comes to me frequently and easily from multiple sources in increasing quantities on a continual basis. People want my products; God helps his children through me."

After a year of this, I realized the phrase "People want my products" was coming true—thousands of people wanted my products—but that wasn’t translating into revenue.

That’s when I adjusted my statement to reflect my true desire: "People BUY my products; God helps his children through me."

Do you see the difference? One word made all the difference.

It’s all about language.

We communicate our desires, and we receive what we ask for. "Ask, and ye shall receive" is a true principle. But the language of faith we’re learning comes from a foreign culture—a way of life we may vaguely remember, but one that’s been temporarily forgotten in this mortal realm.

And in God’s culture, when we ask for increased faith, He doesn’t give us faith outright. He gives us opportunities to exercise it. When we ask for financial freedom, He doesn’t deliver piles of cash, but opportunities to develop multiple streams of income. When we ask for strength, He gives us challenging experiences where we can develop the very strength we sought. (The movie Evan Almighty beautifully illustrates this idea—definitely worth watching.)

In the end, the more fluent we become in God’s language of faith, the more smoothly and peacefully we’ll progress toward everything we truly desire.

(On a side note: I was so excited to release the free Spanish version of the Jackrabbit Factor ebook that, although the book was professionally translated, I took it upon myself to translate the webpage using an online tool. The results were pretty comical, and the page was professionally re-translated within a day or two.)
