There’s real power in optimism. I feel it every time I hear hope in a song—it energizes my whole heart. And I feel the opposite when I hear lyrics soaked in despair—my heart sinks. I invite you to test this out for yourself. Take the original lyrics to the song “The Best is Yet to Come” by the band Sheppard. They’re... fine. The melody is catchy, but if you listen closely, the lyrics don’t really offer a meaningful or cohesive message. Now, let’s listen again—this time with new lyrics that are grounded in hope and purpose.

Believe in miracles—because you’re witnessing one right now. I have almost no formal musical training. I quit piano in third grade. I can sing, but I don’t always hit the exact right notes. Still, I love writing, and I can feel the power in these words. I hope they resonate with you too.

All credit goes to God. He sparked this project in my heart. He let me wrestle with rhyme and rhythm, and once I finished, He gently showed me how to make it better. This is His song.

Guide me to a different place
Where joy is not illusion based
