That one time, I was given four cars in one year.

About a year after my divorce, I found myself needing some extra cash. The only real asset I had left was our twelve-passenger van. I don’t live in a big city with public transportation, but I’ve been fortunate to live within a mile and a half of everything I need—church, the grocery store, schools, and two of my part-time jobs. So, I decided to sell the van.
I figured I could walk wherever I needed to go until another vehicle came along.
I shared this little adventure on social media, hoping to inspire others to walk more for their physical and mental health. I was truly thankful for the sunshine and fresh air.
At one point, someone asked me what kind of car I wanted. I said, “Whatever the Lord would bless me with.” Meanwhile, my teenage daughter had been dreaming of a truck for years—she wanted one desperately.
About two weeks into my walking journey, my friend Rocky called. He had just heard from someone who wanted to give away a 1996 Dodge Ram. They’d been blessed and wanted to pay it forward. Rocky immediately thought of our family. We picked it up and my daughter was over the moon. The truck was in rough shape and we had no idea how long it would last—but she didn’t care. She was just grateful.
So I gave her the truck, and I kept walking.
A couple weeks later, someone else asked what kind of car I wanted. Offhandedly, I replied, “Probably a Toyota Corolla. They seem to be reliable and efficient.” Not long after that, my friend Chris called. He had a company car no one was using and said I was welcome to drive it for a while until I found something permanent. I said thank you, asked no questions, and when we picked it up—I laughed. It was a Toyota Corolla. Of course it was. :-)
Weeks passed, and the truck started acting up again. The brakes were barely holding up and it was having a hard time starting. My daughter never drove it more than five miles at a time—every ride was a bit of an adventure.
Then someone else asked what kind of car I wanted. This time I said, “I think a Honda CRV would be a good fit for the family. It’s roomy enough for all of us and people seem happy with them.”
A few days later, Rocky called again. He had another car to give away and wondered if it might work for us. I said, “Yes, thank you!”—again, no questions, just open-hearted gratitude. He mentioned it had been in seven minor accidents and the AC didn’t work. No guarantees on how long it would last, but we were welcome to it.
He dropped it off that night.
You guessed it: a Honda CRV.
That’s when I realized several spiritual laws were definitely at play. The Law of Perpetual Transmutation was bringing things into form. The Law of Gestation worked quickly—because I was ready. But the one that stood out the most? The Law of Vibration. Clearly, I was vibrating at the level of automobile (not bicycle!). Hooray!
Now, the quality of the vehicles left room for improvement—but I saw that as a beautiful place to start.
We used the truck for three months. The Honda was solid for just over a year, until accident number eight finally did it in. Both vehicles eventually made their way to the great junkyard in the sky. I continued driving the borrowed Toyota Corolla with deep gratitude, holding onto the dream of having a car that was reliable, well-maintained, fully paid off, and beautiful.
I struggled to settle on exactly what I wanted. I never even wrote it down.
Lucky for me, the laws still work with imperfect people.
Yesterday, that dream car showed up.
Thirty-five of my dear friends pooled together and bought me a 2005 Buick LeSabre—reliable, well-maintained, paid for, and beautiful.
On top of that, I was handed $1,000 for fees, registration, and insurance.
I’m thrilled.
I continue to see the Law of Perpetual Transmutation bring the right people and resources into my life.
I see that as I’ve raised my vibration, the quality of my blessings has grown.
I see that when we put good into the world, it comes back.
And I see—again and again—that gratitude is the secret sauce: it helps you love what you have, while still making room for what’s next.
