So Many Ideas!

Ideas—I have lots of them! So many, in fact, that at times I’ve felt totally overwhelmed. I used to try and chase every single idea that popped into my head. Spoiler alert: that was exhausting.
Ideas are wonderful. They’re possibilities, potential, seeds waiting to be planted. But here’s the thing: if you try to plant every idea, you’re going to end up with a garden full of withered sprouts. Why? Because planting an idea isn’t just about having it—it’s about choosing it, committing to it, and giving it the daily care it needs to grow.
To plant an idea is to accept it and act on it. It means sticking with it and doing whatever it takes to bring it to life.
Once planted, that idea needs nurturing. You have to water it, give it sunlight, protect it from the elements (and your own doubts), and check in on its growth regularly. For example: starting a new habit. Planting it means having a clear reason why you want to begin. Watering it means taking daily action. But even better than just taking action is taking inspired action—the kind that comes from tuning in to God and asking for help and direction.
When inspiration comes, follow it—even if it seems small. Especially if it seems small. Because God can do big things through simple steps.
Maybe the inspired action is something that seems unrelated, like cleaning your room. You might think, What does this have to do with my idea or goal? But acting on even that small prompting can open doors you never expected. Sometimes God is just training you—helping you tune in, helping you learn to listen, helping you trust. The action itself might not be the point… your willingness to act is.
And other times, the prompting will be very specific. That’s why I’ve learned to write ideas down as soon as they come. Capturing them matters. It tells God, I’m listening. You can trust me with this.
Of course, there are moments when writing something down just isn’t possible—like when I’m driving. In those cases, I ask God to bring it back to me when I can safely record it. That simple act of asking still honors the idea and shows my intent to act. And as long as I do act when the idea returns, I’ve found that beautiful things begin to take shape.
The fruit we harvest always comes from the seeds we actually plant and nurture. And let me tell you—there is nothing more satisfying than seeing those seeds grow into something real.
