If I plant a seed in the ground and give it the proper care, it will grow.
If I drop a coin in a vending machine, push the right buttons, and make a selection, my snack will be delivered.
If I step onto an elevator and choose a floor, it will take me there.
If I drink water, my body will process it and be nourished.
If I go to college, choose a major, attend classes, turn in assignments, and take the tests, I’ll get my degree.
If I feed and care for a child, he or she will most likely grow up into a healthy adult.

These are examples of the Law of Gestation—and yes, it’s tied to the Law of Cause and Effect: if THIS, then THAT. But what makes this law stand out to me is twofold:

  1. It’s coming. We know it. We trust it. There’s no uncertainty, no second-guessing, no "maybe."

  2. Everything unfolds in its own perfect timing. Seeds don’t bloom into flowers overnight. Vending machines? Instant. College degrees? Years. A pregnancy? Nine months. Each has its own gestation period—and we understand and accept that as normal.

When a woman is expecting, she doesn’t panic in the third month because she isn’t holding her baby yet. She knows it’s growing, and she fully expects to hold that baby in her arms in due time.

That same kind of confidence and certainty is what this law teaches us to apply to our dreams.

That’s why the Law of Gestation is one of the most exciting and encouraging laws to me. It fills me with hope. It reminds me that the dream I’ve planted will come to fruition if I nurture it, protect it from weeds of doubt, and keep believing in its arrival.

Just like we don’t question the vending machine or the degree process or pregnancy—we shouldn’t question the arrival of our dreams.

Yes, sometimes life throws a curveball and things don’t work out the way we pictured. But that just means something as good—or even better—is coming our way. The principle still holds. My job is to believe, nourish, and keep moving forward.

So right now, I’m holding onto that knowing.
I’m trusting the process.
I’m doing my part.
And I am expecting.
