Unexpected surprise…
First of all, the surgeon hadn’t really planned to remove the node—let alone three of them (I thought she said two yesterday, but I must’ve misheard)—because one was sitting right on a main artery. But with some encouragement from the surgical oncologist, she went ahead and took them all out and sent them to pathology.
All three just came back benign—even the one we’ve been trying to shrink since March.
Even though the PET scan had already ruled out cancer, it feels better having them gone.
They’re planning to send me home today. I’m not feeling totally ready—pain is still a challenge, and my repaired system is struggling to wake up and do its job.
