Popcorn and the Pink Truck

“Let’s make popcorn!” Jeff said as we wrapped up a research paper for his class. We grabbed the hot air popper and poured in some yellow kernels. As they started to heat up, we watched them bounce around inside the chamber. Soon, one popped—fluffy and white—and then another and another. We slid the bowl underneath just in time to catch the popcorn as it pushed its way out of the popper, filling the bowl to the brim. Once they were all popped, we added butter and salt and carried our delicious snack into the living room to enjoy during a movie.
The Law of Perpetual Transmutation teaches that everything is constantly moving into or out of form. Energy never stands still—it’s always in motion, always changing. The popcorn is a fun example. It started as still kernels. Once heat (energy) was added, they began transforming—first into popped corn, then into buttered popcorn, and finally into eaten popcorn. Each step is simply energy taking a new form.
Or take water—it’s even easier to visualize. It can exist as invisible vapor, then a cloud, then rain, then ice. It can change back at any stage. This law applies to everything—including our ideas, thoughts, and goals.
Whether we can see it or not, everything in the universe—and in our consciousness—is made of energy that’s always shifting. The amazing part? We can shape that energy through our thoughts. Our focused attention has the power to transform invisible ideas into tangible realities. Thoughts turn into things. Every dream or outcome moves through stages: non-existent, idea, spiritual energy, physical reality. But at any stage, if we lose belief or focus, we can reverse the process and lose it.
Another name for this law could be The Law of Pure Potentiality. It’s about the mind, body, and spirit working in harmony to express the divine within us. It’s how the unmanifest becomes manifest. Real success is not just an end result—it’s a journey of unfolding who we really are.
Think of the stickman figure often used in personal development as a symbol of our one true self—pure potential, capable of creating anything.
When you discover your essential nature and know who you really are, in that knowing itself, is the ability to fulfill any dream you have.
When you truly understand yourself and believe in who you are, your thoughts gain creative power. You can bring anything from your imagination into physical form.
Here’s why this law matters so much: you can change energy. Your thoughts are energy. You can choose your thoughts. And when you change your thoughts, you shift your energy. That shift determines what you attract—thanks to the other laws of the universe. You become a magnet for the things you truly desire.
Let me give you an example. When I was first learning about this law, I was driving through a dry, barren stretch of highway on my way to Utah. I thought, “Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see some bright colors out here?” A rainbow came to mind, but that didn’t quite feel right. Instead, I asked to see cars in bright colors—blue, green, red, yellow. Not long after, trucks started showing up in exactly those shades. Then I saw one that had all four colors on it. That was my rainbow!
With joy and gratitude, I decided I wanted to see a pink truck next. A pink car passed. Fun! But I was clear—I wanted a pink truck. Then a purple one passed. Then a lavender one. Then an orange one. A few minutes later, I saw a small pink pickup… and even a little pink bus! I was loving this colorful parade. Still, I kept focusing on my specific desire: a bright pink semi-truck.
By then, the road around me no longer felt dull and empty. Color was everywhere. I was more aware, more alert, and more tuned in. I hadn’t seen the pink truck yet, but I believed it would show up.
Two days later, on the drive back to California, I was reflecting on the whole experience. I thanked God for all the colorful vehicles and quietly repeated my wish to see a pink truck. Not long after, there it was—a pink truck driving the opposite way. It wasn’t as vibrant as I’d pictured, but it was pink. I smiled, full of gratitude. I knew this law was real. And I also knew that if I kept believing, I’d eventually see the exact shade of pink I had imagined.
Whether it’s popcorn, rainbows of vehicles, or the course of our life itself—energy is always in motion. Everything is continually moving in or out of form, shaped by our thoughts. Our life story is a series of experiences that we attract and create based on how we think.
“It’s not good or bad… it just is.”
We assign meaning to events. Whether it's popcorn in a bowl or an idea in our heart, the energy is available—ready to transform—when we choose to direct it with intention and belief.
