Planning for the New Season

guest posts law of rhythm spiritual beliefs Oct 08, 2019

By Steve Dragon

As with nearly all of the Universal Laws—especially the Law of Rhythm—I can now clearly recognize their presence throughout my life, even though I didn’t know what to call them at the time.

Looking back over the last thirty years or so, I’ve seen a distinct pattern: whenever my family hit a financial low point, a new opportunity would show up—like overtime at work—just in time to save the day, the month, or sometimes even the year. The more often this happened, the more I came to hope for it… and eventually, I began to expect it. Now, I’ve reached a place in my life where I not only feel okay expecting a turnaround—I’ve come to believe that expecting it is exactly what we’re meant to do.

Most of my most memorable experiences with the Law of Rhythm have centered around my finances. And to be fair, a lot of the financial ups and downs I’ve experienced were self-imposed. I was careless with money. My unspoken motto seemed to be, “easy come, easy go”—even though it wasn’t always easy to come by. Somewhere in childhood, I picked up the belief that if I had money today, I had better spend it today. Maybe the opportunity to enjoy it would disappear. Maybe someone would take it. Maybe I wouldn’t be here tomorrow. Unspent money felt like it was burning a hole in my pocket.

So I usually spent what I had, when I had it. Then I discovered credit—and gladly spent what I didn’t have. After a few years, I’d get tired of living in debt, buckle down, pay things off, and live debt-free for a little while. Maybe a year. Then, like many addictions, the old thoughts would creep in: “I’ve been so good for so long. I can use a little bit of credit for this one thing. I’ll pay it off next month.” And the cycle would begin again.

Right now, at the time of this writing, we’re carrying the highest debt we’ve ever had—on the lowest income we’ve had in many years. But you know what? I actually feel grateful. Because of what I’ve learned about the Law of Rhythm—and several other laws—I am confident we’re on the brink of a major turnaround. We’ve recently committed to practicing stronger principles of self-reliance: saving more, reducing debt, avoiding lifestyle creep. Our home business sales are steadily growing month by month. I’m also laying the foundation for something I believe will bless not just us, but many others as well.

I can feel the up-cycle coming!

It’s as if I’ve taken life’s rhythm—the familiar rise and fall of that horizontal wavy line—and tilted it upward 45 degrees, just like we learned in our Mindset Mastery lessons. What might have looked like a low point in years past now feels more like a resting point—a brief plateau before our next season of growth. I recently felt a strong spiritual confirmation that this shift in perspective is true. With everything I’ve learned about God’s laws of co-creation—and with my continued efforts to live in harmony with them—I know in my heart that we’re on the cusp of our best season yet.
