Old Curtains

The Vacuum Law of Prosperity states that Nature abhors a vacuum. Make space for what you want by releasing what no longer serves you. Let it go—and allow the Universe to compensate you.

Look around your life. Is there something you no longer desire? Something you’ve outgrown? Here’s the thing: whether you like it or not, you’re currently in perfect harmony with it. If you weren’t, it wouldn’t still be there.

Bob Proctor tells a great story about his aunt. He paid her a visit, and she immediately apologized for her hideous curtains. She told him how much she hated those old things—but she just couldn’t afford to replace them.

Bob said,
“You love those curtains.”
“No, I hate them!” she replied. “I just can’t afford new ones.”
“No,” he said. “You love them. Subconsciously, you are in complete harmony with them… or they’d already be gone.”

She protested again—“But I can’t afford new ones!”

Bob responded,
“Dear Aunt, don’t you see? You don’t need new curtains. You have no room for new curtains! If you want new ones, take these down, clean them up, and give them away. Don’t yard sale them—donate them to charity.”

She followed his advice. The next time Bob came to visit, brand-new curtains hung in her windows. A way had presented itself. But now, her living room was void of furniture.

That’s the power of this principle. Create the vacuum—and the Universe will fill it.

In my own life, I was wrestling with why income wasn’t flowing the way I believed it should. The devastating loss of my wife Susan—who was also my business partner—had left a deeper impact than I’d imagined.

Before her passing, she had warned me that her absence would affect the business. She was right. I found myself pouring personal savings into the company just to keep it afloat. Outwardly, I told myself I hated what was happening. But the truth? Subconsciously, I had accepted this as my new reality without her.

It took me a long time to realize I was actually in harmony with the decline. And as long as I stayed aligned with that story, nothing was going to change.

On top of that, I started to ask myself:
Why would the Universe send me new clients if I wasn’t even serving the ones I had?

I was overworked, overstressed, and energetically maxed out. Of course I wasn’t going to be trusted with more.

It wasn’t until I shifted my mindset that things finally began to turn around. I made the hard decision to release the clients I could no longer afford to serve well. I focused my energy on finishing the work I could do—clearing space, both mentally and practically—for something better.

And that’s when it started to happen.

The Universe responds to prepared space.
It responds to clear intent.
And it rewards aligned action.
