Just Focus!

“You have seventeen seconds of holding a thought, good or bad, before the Universe sets things in motion to bring it about.”

When I first heard that at a recent seminar, it honestly struck me as a little odd. Seventeen seconds? I mean, I’m not sure I buy the exact time frame—but I do believe in the momentum of our thoughts.

We’re always moving—either closer to our goals or farther away from them—based on the thoughts we choose to focus on. That makes sense, right?

Let’s say I decide to write a book. I think about the ideas I want to include, start brainstorming, and jot them down. That alone creates the spark of a goal and starts moving things in that direction. But then—let’s say a friend tells me my writing stinks. And if I choose to believe her? Poof. The dream starts fizzling. The moment I give up on the idea, that goal stops inching toward me.

But here’s the cool part: if I don’t let that comment derail me—if I keep focusing on the outcome I want—the momentum continues. The goal keeps moving toward me.

That’s what the Law of Perpetual Transmutation teaches: our goals are constantly shifting—moving in and out of possibility—based on what we believe and where we place our thoughts.

Isn’t that awesome? It means that when we set a goal clearly and keep believing in it, it’s actively finding its way to us.

This law makes even more sense to me when I picture looking through a camera lens. The more positive and focused my thoughts, the clearer the picture becomes. But when doubt and fear creep in, the image gets blurry, out of focus.

I recently experienced this in real time. I had a big goal with a serious deadline… but life happened. Unexpected events popped up smack in the middle of the hours I had planned to work. I couldn’t skip them, and I started feeling the pressure mount.

But then I remembered the Law of Transmutation and decided to imagine that—even while I wasn’t actively working on the goal—it was still moving toward me. I chose to believe that the energy and momentum were still there.

Just hours before the deadline, I lost three more hours to another big interruption. At that point, I really didn’t have enough time left. But instead of panicking, I stayed in belief mode. I reminded myself: It’s still coming. It’s still moving toward me.

And guess what? It did. The right person to contact popped into my mind. A flash of inspiration hit just when I needed it. And somehow—somehow—I got it done. On time.

So yeah, whether it’s seventeen seconds or not, I know this: when you picture your dream with clarity, when you hold onto that belief even in the messy middle, it will find its way to you.

Trust the process. For real.
