My easy-to-accomplish goal didn’t go as planned. What started off simple and totally doable suddenly felt… impossible.

Can you relate?

After discovering the perfect breed of cats to support my children emotionally, someone asked if I’d ever consider breeding a litter.
With so few of this breed in the U.S., it felt like a meaningful way to help others—and it completely aligned with my deep love for animals. I had a breeder ready to mentor me, a passion for the process, and a desire to share the same benefits I’d seen in my own family.

I had it all mapped out. A clear, beautiful plan.

But when our kitten turned one, the breeder I was working with didn’t have a male (stud) that wasn’t already related to her.

I did everything I could. I reached out to breeder after breeder—but no matter how hard I tried, no one was willing to work with me.

One by one, the doors kept closing.

Eventually, I did find a breeder open to letting me use his stud—but Coco didn’t get pregnant. And he had no interest in trying again.

At that point, I was on the verge of letting the whole dream go.

Then out of nowhere, I found Hazel—a breeder several hours away who was willing to work with me.

I was thrilled!

I drove Coco to Hazel’s home, spent time learning from her, and left Coco there to wait for her next heat cycle.

But while Coco was there, everything shifted again. Hazel was diagnosed with COPD and told she could no longer keep cats in her home if she wanted to heal. She offered to sell me her equipment—and her entire breeding program.

Including one very pregnant female cat.

Just a week later, that mama delivered seven kittens—right in my home.

WOW.

The dream I had nearly given up on came flooding back—bigger and better than I ever imagined. In the blink of an eye, I went from struggling to start to becoming a mid-level breeder.

Now, seven-plus years later, that frustrating season feels like nothing more than a small bump in the road. What once felt like a hard stop is just a distant memory.

The Law of Gestation reminds us that every dream needs time to grow—just like a seed.

We’re meant to plant the seed with full faith that it will sprout—and then resist the urge to dig it up just to check on it! Some dreams take longer to show results, but that doesn’t mean they’re not working beneath the surface, getting ready to burst through.

Too often, people give up just when their seed is about to bloom.

So how do we avoid giving up too soon?

Turn to your Higher Power and ask for help. Ask for a spark of genius to guide you forward.

Give thanks for the help that’s already on its way.

Then get to work—following even the smallest nudges, no matter how unrelated they may seem at first.

Make sure your energy matches your dream. Imagine and feel what it will be like to receive what you’re working for—as if it’s already yours (see the post on the Law of Vibration).

Be like an expectant mother. If a baby doesn’t arrive on its due date, she doesn’t assume it’s not coming—she continues to prepare and expect.

What would you do differently if you knew you couldn’t fail? Would you meet setbacks with more grit and curiosity?

Believing you can’t fail changes how you show up. It opens you up to solutions you never knew existed.

Just like my breeding program came together in its own timing and unexpected way, your dreams will, too.

Sure, I could have had one early litter and then found myself stuck again. But instead, God had me wait—until the right opportunity came along, launching what became one of my greatest passions and missions.

Trust Him—and He’ll do the same for you.
