Change Your World by Using the Law of Relativity

I’m so excited to share with you a fascinating Universal Law: the Law of Relativity. I first learned about it from Leslie Householder, author of the bestselling book The Jackrabbit Factor. She explained it this way: “Your situation is not fundamentally good or bad until you compare it to something else...”

Isn’t that powerful?

We all want to be happy and experience great results in life, right? One of the most effective ways to do that is by keeping our perception, attitude, and emotional energy as positive as possible. The truth is, we get more of who we are and what we send out into the world. And the highest, most powerful vibe you can send out is gratitude. When you're grounded in gratitude and positive emotion, not only are you more empowered to help yourself—you naturally attract the help and support of others, too.

So how does the Law of Relativity help with that? It’s simple: this law teaches us how to focus our minds and hearts to find the best in every situation. When something happens, it’s not automatically “good” or “bad,” “right” or “wrong”—it just is. We, as human beings, have the unique ability to choose the meaning we give it.

This means that even when something difficult or upsetting happens—something that most people would label as “terrible”—you and I have the power to assign it a positive meaning. And when we choose to do that, we rise above the noise. We become stronger, more resilient, and more magnetic.

Ultimately, this law gives us freedom. But with that freedom comes responsibility. It reminds us that no matter the circumstance, we always have a choice. The law is working constantly—it never stops and it never fails. In every moment, we are invited to decide how we will let something affect us.

I choose to use the Law of Relativity intentionally. I know that when I feel better, I attract better. So, I train my mind to look for the good. When I’m up at 1 a.m. feeding my newborn and he just will not go back to sleep, I choose to feel gratitude—gratitude for him, for this precious moment, for our connection. When our car ends up with a massive dent in the passenger-side door overnight, I focus on the fact that the doors still open and close perfectly—and I’m genuinely grateful for that.

I practice gratitude often and consistently, and I know that as I focus on what I want and appreciate what I already have, more continues to flow into my life.

To sum it up: the Law of Relativity helps us focus, find the good, and attach empowering meaning to what life throws at us. Gratitude is the key emotion that opens the door to receiving more. And it’s easiest to feel gratitude when we apply this law.

You can start right now. Think of a difficult situation in your life and compare it to someone who has faced worse. Then, choose to attach a positive, grateful meaning to your experience. It’s a game-changer.
