Can the Power of Thought Help You Reach Your Ideal Weight?

Have you ever struggled with your weight? What a silly question, right? :-)

A number of years ago, I decided it was time. I was going to get in shape—or die trying. (And honestly... I almost did. Haha.)

My husband and I went all in. We spent half our days prepping six different meals and exercising like maniacs. I remember running on my treadmill so hard I felt like I was going to throw up when I stepped off. (Yuck.) It was intense and probably too much—but I was in the best shape of my life. It sparked something in me. I started hiking, running, lifting weights—I felt alive and energized, and had so much more to give. All that hard work made me feel really, really good.

But can you guess what happened next?

I fell and hurt my tailbone. (Yep, blink and you’d miss it.) But that tiny injury flipped my entire world upside down.

For weeks, I could only sit in one chair without screaming in pain. I could barely walk, let alone work out. And I spiraled. I started gaining weight. Depression crept in. My confidence plummeted. I felt self-conscious everywhere I went.

So why share this?

Because now I can look back and totally see why it happened.

When I first set my goal, I was laser-focused. I saw myself at my ideal weight. I visualized it. I even imagined my fat cells releasing weight while I exercised—no joke. It came naturally to me. The more I believed it, the easier it got. I even started to enjoy the workouts that once felt impossible. My determined thoughts made that vision real.

But after the injury? My focus shifted. I locked onto the pain. I kept replaying everything I couldn’t do: I can’t move. I can’t exercise. I can’t cook. I can’t _______. Looking back, I believe my thoughts slowed my healing. My negativity led to inactivity, weight gain, and emotional struggle.

So what if you’ve got some extra weight you’d like to lose? Can anything really help you drop it—and keep it off?

Absolutely! Here’s the simple truth. (Stick with me, and just do it.)

Visualize yourself at your ideal weight. Picture it. What do you look like? What are you wearing? (Your skinny jeans, maybe!?) What are you doing—what kind of energy and confidence are you radiating? Ask yourself, “How would I feel if I were already at my ideal weight?” And really feel the gratitude, as if it’s already happened.

Decide that you’re ALL IN. No halfway commitment. Decide. Commit.

Write down your goal in the present tense—as if it’s already yours. NO skipping this. Seriously, it matters. Something like:
“I am so happy and grateful now that I have reached my ideal weight! I look and feel incredible in my skinny jeans! I am energetic, active, and healthy. It was so easy to release the extra weight because I fed my body exactly what it needed for proper nutrition and balance. I feel amazing!!”

I know it sounds crazy. But I’m telling you—it works.

Read your goal statement aloud ten times a day. Yes. TEN. Say it with passion! The more emotion you put behind it, the faster you’ll see results. If doubt creeps in—SHOUT IT. That helps, too.

Find photos of yourself at your ideal weight and post them where you’ll see them often. Own those images. Let your subconscious believe that’s who you are now. Spend more time looking at those pictures than the mirror. (Yep, it sounds weird, but it’s just training your brain.)

Ignore the “evidence” telling you the goal is impossible. When fear or frustration show up, choose belief instead. Stay fixed on the goal. Feel grateful for the journey, and it will happen.

Start living like you’ve already arrived. Move your body more. Think like a healthy, vibrant person. Do those things you’ve been putting off just because you feel weighed down.

Listen for inspiration around food and movement—and act on it.

And remember: prosperity isn’t just about money. It’s about loving your life—all of it. These same principles apply to any goal, including weight loss. The Laws of Thought are incredibly powerful… if you’ll actually use them.

So go ahead—make it happen.
