Okay — here’s a quick peek behind the ThoughtsAlive curtain:

For years, I’ve been searching for a short name or phrase that could weave through everything I’ve created or shared since launching ThoughtsAlive in 2002. I’ve tried a lot of ideas over the years, but none of them really captured it all.

All those years without a real elevator speech.

At first, I tried making everything about "ThoughtsAlive," because it sounded catchy and tied nicely to the message behind Ella Wheeler Wilcox’s poem, "Thoughts are Things" (look it up if you’d like). But the problem is, when you say it out loud, people hear all kinds of things: "Spots of Life," "Thoughts a Lie," "That's a Lie," and so on. Definitely not good for branding.

I’m keeping it as my company name (because, LLC paperwork... and who wants to start over?), but I don’t use it much anymore when sharing what I do — kind of like how Dave Ramsey doesn’t spend much time talking about LAMPO.

Next, I tried centering everything around The Jackrabbit Factor, but no one knows what that is unless they’ve read the book. I wanted a phrase that would capture the principles and also align with my personal faith tradition.

Then came Heaven’s Astonishing Help with Your Money Matters — but let’s be honest, it was too long. Plus, what I teach isn’t just about money. So that evolved into Hidden Treasures, but again, it didn’t stretch far enough to include everything outside of my second book.

I tried Positive Thinking Tips, because yes, positive thinking is part of it, but that misses the whole point: why it’s important, and who we should ultimately rely on for help (more on that).

I even tried 47tips — because I was about ready to throw my hands up and go totally generic. It was short, memorable, and easy to brand. But the problem with being that vague is that it doesn't spark the kind of connection I was looking for.

Then, a couple of years ago, I came across a quote — and everything changed. My new blog name, brand, hashtag, and newsletter title all come from this:

THIS is why "A Rare Kind of Faith" finally felt right. To me, it captures everything. It's always been about faith — not the vague, passive kind, but the rare, intentional kind that empowers you to accomplish what you were put here to do, and to overcome every obstacle along the way.
